Kris was born on February 22, 1975 in Belleville, Illinois the son of the late Robert Lee Brummitt, Sr. and Joanne (Hager) Brummitt. He married the former Amy Kelley on December 12, 2009 and she survives. Kris graduated from John A. Logan College with a degree in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography. He was employed by Heartland Regional Medical Center of Marion and Dr. Naeem Khan Cardiology in Centralia. Kris was a devoted husband, extraordinary father, loving son, and honorable brother. Kris took great pride in his daughter Kailyn Rayne Brummitt who was born on January 21, 2012. Kris is survived by his wife Amy (Kelley) Brummitt, his daughter Kailyn Rayne Brummitt, his mother Joanne (Brummitt) Bowlin and husband Howard, mother-in-law Connie Kelley, his brothers, Robert Lee Brummitt, Jr. and wife Alice, Markum Brummitt; his sisters Christina Lewis, Starlet and husband Matt Baker, Shayna and husband Jesse Drew, Raquel and husband Torey Pulliam, Brooklen Bowlin; step-sisters Kimberly and husband Darryl Lunsford, Michelle and husband Joe Boisseau; his foster brothers Jason Burnett, Robert Lively, Danny Parkinson, his foster sisters Tara and husband Matt Neilson, Christina Jones, Josie and husband Steve Heggaton, two brothers-in-law Brian Kelley and wife Amiee, Kevin Kelley and wife Stephanie, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Lee Brummitt, Sr. and his father-in-law William Kelley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Bear Point Free Will Baptist Church in Sesser with Rev. Larry Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Mulkeytown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, and from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kristopher Brummitt, for the Benefit of Kailyn Brummitt fund, and will be accepted at the funeral home and at the church.
