Obituary:
Steven Robbie Caldwell, age 60, of Benton, passed away Saturday, July 1,2017 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

A Memorial Celebration of Life Service including Masonic Rites, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton with Pastor Jacob Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Leffler Funeral Home.

Steven Robbie Caldwell was born on March 19, 1957 in Chicago, IL, the son of Robbie Caliel Caldwell and Phyllis Jean (Ward) Caldwell. He married the former Wanda Lou Crider on July 16, 1983 and she survives.

Mr. Caldwell was a mechanic, having worked for Cotter-Stover Ford, Lakeland Ford, Harrisburg Wal-Mart, and CSI Vertical Cutting Dryers associated with coal mining. He was also a former truck driver.

He enjoyed fishing, working at the food pantry, gardening with the garden club, woodworking, helping as a Honorary Juvenile Detention Officer, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

Steve was a member of Community of Christ Church in Thompsonville, and currently he served as Worshipful Master at Benton Masonic Lodge #64 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Lou Caldwell of Benton; a daughter Brandi and husband Chuck Cockrum of Benton; a step-son Terry Ellison of Ledford, IL; his mother Phyllis Jean Caldwell of Eldorado, IL, four grandchildren: Kaitlyn Morgan, Macy Cockrum, Marlie Cockrum, Calvin Cockrum; two sisters: Debbie Reeder of Vienna, IL, Ruthie Eckleberry of Arab, AL, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter Shannon Shane, and a granddaughter Maggie Joy Cockrum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Steven R. Caldwell to help with funeral expenses, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
