Obituary:
Charles “Chuck” Carlile, age 77, of West Frankfort; passed away at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the SSM Good Samaritan Hospital of Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Carlie was cremated. A graveside committal service will be held at a future date.

Arrangements are through the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.

Charles was born on August 21, 1940 in Saline County, IL, the son of Omer Carlile and Faye W. (Biggs) Carlile.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Carlile worked as a State of Illinois employee working with Shapiro Developmental Health in Kankakee, IL. He was a member of the AFSCME Council 31.

Charles enjoyed his coffee, working with and building computer systems, researching genealogy, and he never met a stranger and became a friend to most everyone he met.

He is survived by Seth Dean and wife Heather, Johnny Loucks, who he considered both men to be like his own sons, both of West Frankfort; his grandson Ares’ Dean; two brothers Vic Carlile and wife Cheryl of Bonfield, IL, Jack Carlile and wife Jeanne of Alton, IL; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Carlile was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Betty Fuller and Donna Penny; and a brother Jim Carlile.
