Obituary:
Mrs. Mary B. Cockrum, age 98, of Benton, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Derrick Cairel officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery of Benton. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Leffler Funeral Home.

Mary was born on April 11, 1920 in Logan, IL, the daughter of Walter Crawford and Edith (Dillon) Crawford. She married Robert Cockrum on October 9, 1937, and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1970.

Mrs. Cockrum was the owner and operator of Cockrumís Intermediate Care Nursing Home of Benton.

She attended the Immanuel Baptist Church of Benton, until her health failed her. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Mary loved and raised her family, was a hard worker, and cared for many people, including the residents and employees during her owning and operating her nursing home.

Mrs. Cockrum is survived by her six children, a son William Robert Cockrum and wife Judy of Benton, IL; three daughters Linda Davis and husband Gary of Benton, IL, Betty Vick of Belleville, IL, Kathy King of Benton, IL; twin sons Curtis Cockrum and wife Rhonda of Oak Ridge, TN, Kenneth Cockrum and wife Amy of Benton, IL; nine grandchildren: Bill Cockrum, Beth Ann Mosley, Julie Davis, Jeremy Vick, Joseph King, James Robert Cockrum, Andrew Cockrum, Erin Wuerz, and Daniel Cockrum; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister Letha Rich of Benton, IL; a sister-in-law Noreen Crawford of Pekin, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons-in-law: Jerry Vick and Jim King; three brothers: Clarence Crawford, Jess Crawford, and Tommy Crawford.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
