Susan Abbott, 78, of Logan formerly of Chicago left this earth to be with our Lord at 4:57 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 in the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, with Rev. Bert Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Mulkeytown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 4, 20011 in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.
Mrs. Abbott was born on December 24, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Susan and John Roth. She married the love of her life, Amos Ray Abbott on November 9, 1968. Mr. Abbott preceded her in death on September 26, 1998.
She is survived by her brother John Roth, Jr. of Bardwell, KY. Her daughter Susan Mateycak Angus and husband Gary of West Frankfort, their children Peggy, Kenneth, Keith and Kurtis Mateycak, Gared, Kimberly and David Angus. Son Jim Abbott and wife Peggy of Logan, their children Tonya, Rhonda, Jimmy, Amy, Ryan, and Caleb Abbott, Joshua and Jacob Frost. Daughter, Sheryl Ramsey of Paducah, KY, her children David and Lacey Ramsey. Son Bushrod Kenneth Meteycak and Amos Dewain Abbott both of Benton, his children Vicki, Greg and Eddie Abbott, Son Cecil Abbott and wife Diane, their child Steven Abbott. Daughter Nila Melander and husband Marty of Chicago, their child Kristen Melander.
She was preceded in death by four of her children, daughter Karen Thompson Spanos, surviving are Karen's children Jared and Jason Thompson. Daughter Lavona Ettleman Kopacz, surviving are Lavona's children Jackie Ettleman and Jessica Kopacz. Daughter Jeanette Timmons, a son Johnni Timmons, surviving are Johnni's children Nicholas, Justin, Crystal and John. She was also preceded in death by one Grandson Jon Jon Thompson, a sister Mary Ann Pubaliski, and her parents.
Mrs. Abbott's riches in life came not with money, but with the value of her family. She loved to brag to anyone about the 113 Great-Grandchildren that were everything to her. There were many loved ones too numerous to mention, but were loved in body, mind and soul.
