Janice M. Simpkins

Janice Marie Simpkins, age 73, of Benton passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Helia Healthcare of Benton, IL.

Janice’s wishes are to be cremated. There are no additional services planned at this time.

The Leffler Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

Mrs. Simpkins was born on September 27, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois; the daughter of David L. Rogers and Corine E. (Corcoran) Rogers Knitter. She married George Simpkins on November 28, 1985, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2023.

Janice was a former server and hostess. Lastly, she worked for Benton Grade School District #47 as a bus driver.

She was a Christian. She enjoyed hosting online card games, crocheting, craft making, playing board games, cooking, and baking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family.

Mrs. Simpkins is survived her children: Richard Roche of Wisconsin, Joseph Roche of Crown Point, Indiana, Michelle Rogers of Mishawaka, Indiana; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her siblings: David (Joyce) Rogers of Dyer, Indiana, Carol (Bob) Largent of Iuka, Mississippi, Darlene Pruett-Taylor (Terry) of South Bend, Indiana, Billie (Pam) Rogers of South Bend, Indiana, Adam Rogers of Worth, Illinois, Christina (Harvey) Kendall of Illinois, Jeffrey (Diane) Rogers of California; her step-mother Yvonne Rogers of Benton, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and her fur babies..

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter Norine Roche; a brother Robert “Bobby” Rogers.
